A Quote from Dean Close

Teachers foster a highly positive relationship with their pupils

Independent Schools Inspectorate Report

Independent Schools Inspectorate Report 2011:

"The pupils have excellent attitudes to their work, with strongly developed oral expression, and are notably eager and resourceful. They take pride in how their written work is presented. On many occasions, pupils work in pairs or small groups, where they openly discuss information maturely, for example in a Year 3 drama lesson, developing their own playlets on a theme. Throughout the school they can argue a case clearly, but can also listen well to the ideas of others, and then adapt their original views accordingly. Pupils are prepared to experiment, and are not afraid to take measured risks."

Dean Close Prep School aims to inspire it's pupils to a lifelong love of learning. It strives to equip each child with the skill and confidence to be an independant thinker, able to tackle a task either as an individual or as part of a team.

Dean Close Preparatory School meets the educational needs of a wide range of individual abilities and aims to provide an appropriate education for every child in the family. The small classes and experienced Learning Support Department mean the school is able to extend the most able to academic excellence while supporting the less able on an individual basis.

At DCPS we seek to develop the whole person in preparation for entry to the Senior School. All children take part in a Life Skills programme, which encourages them to consider issues about their lives and the lives of others. Life at school is very busy and the pupils quickly learn how to apply themselves with a keen purposefulness.
