The department provides unparalleled opportunities for performance, ranging from informal lunchtime recitals to large-scale concerts. All are encouraged to perform, whatever standard they have achieved.
A typical year's calendar comprises the following musical events:
- Lunchtime concerts (approximately 10 per year)
- Evening recitals:
Music Scholar Recitals (Junior and Senior)
New Scholars' Recital
Fridays at 6 recital series (approximately 10 per year)
Valedictory Concert
- Half Term Concerts (2 per year)
- Concerts given at local churches (approximately 2 per year)
- Choral Evensong at St Paul's Cathedral, Tewkesbury Abbey and an Oxbridge College
- Service of Nine Lessons & Carols and School Carol Service
- Competitions:
House Singing Competition (compulsory for the entire school)
House Music Competition (solo instrumental and vocal)
Sherratt Prize (post-Grade 8)
Composition Prize
- Masterclasses (approximately 2 per year)
- RocSoc Concert
Jazz Band evening
- Choral Society Concert (either in the Pittville Pump Room, Tewkesbury Abbey or Cheltenham Town Hall)
- Spring Concert in the Pittville Pump Room
- Advent Concert alternating with the School Musical
- Commemoration Concert
In addition to the above, other musical events are included each year, both in and out of school.
