Duke of Edinburgh

With so many pupils packing every moment of their school day with constructive activity, the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme utterly compliments all that the Dean Close has to offer.  And for those who need a bit of motivation to get involved in school life, the D of E is a great way to prod them into committing to enjoyable activities.

Pupils concentrate on the Physical, Skills and Volunteering aspects of the Award in the Michaelmas and Lent terms. A whole range of activities is undertaken including various sports, dancing, and musical pursuits, and this year has seen a group join a project initiated in the Prep School to help younger children with Learning Difficulties. Following on, the Expeditions are run in the Trinity term and also in some of the school holidays. At Bronze level these tend to be in the Cotswold or Stroud Valley areas and, by the Gold level, we are trekking into the Welsh Mountains.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme at Dean Close is always open to new ideas and initiatives from the students, and continues to operate with Licensed Authority.
