Shelburne

GIRLS BOARDING HOUSE

Housemistress: Mrs Julie Kent
Resident Tutor:  Miss Frankie Hildick-Smith

Exciting, enthusiastic and extremely sociable – and that’s just the Housemistress! Shelburne is renowned for being a very fun, friendly house where the girls consider themselves part of the family.

Cups of tea, chick-flicks, Dance Hero and Sunday scones are some of the house highlights.   Whether getting dressed up or having down-time in PJs, the girls feel at home and cared for. Saturday nights in the House usually involve a film, pizza and popcorn and the girls can often be found hanging out with the House Tutor on weekday evenings. House Evenings are a chance to do something a bit different, anything from bowling, cinema trips, pampering sessions to obstacle courses!

Shelburne is very strong in sports, drama and academics but when it comes to House competitions, it really is the taking part that counts and all the girls are encouraged to take part, whether it's Cross-Country or Chess.

We have our own magazine, the Shelburne Shout, and the Shelburne Fun Run and Shelburne Soiree are hugely enjoyable events in the School calendar.

Shelburne aims to promote good, honest and trusting relationships amongst the girls as well as with the Housemistress and tutors. We hope that the girls will develop a positive sense of individuality and good self-esteem during their teenage years in Shelburne.

The house moto sums up Shelburne well: Vita per amicitiam – Life through friendship
