Leonard Browne MA has been Headmaster of Dean Close Preparatory School for 8 years, having originally joined the school as Chaplain to the three school community as well as head of Religious Studies. Leonard grew up in Belfast and went on to study History and then Theology at Cambridge University. He represented Ireland in both rugby and athletics at school boy level and then Northern Ireland at senior level in athletics.
On graduating he taught Religious Studies at Clifton College and then, following ordination, spent the next phase of his career in parish ministry keeping close links working with schools and young people. The Headmaster is passionate about education as the whole of life, where what takes place in the classroom setting is a vital part, but only a part, of what education should be about. Drama, music and sport, and existing within a community, learning to cope with failure as well as success, and looking beyond one’s own needs are all part and parcel of what we offer at Dean Close Prep School. We are committed to giving children a secure and happy environment in which to thrive, recognising that each pupil is unique, and helping each individual to strive towards reaching their full potential. In our efforts to do this, it is our Christian ethos than underpins all that we seek to be and to do.
