    Dean Close St John’s is a thriving independent, co-educational day and boarding school situated on a lovely countryside plot overlooking Chepstow.

    In June 2015 the School and nurseries were acquired by the Dean Close Group.  This is a very exciting time for St John’s and it is felt that this brand new post will offer lots of challenges and enjoyment.      

    This is a new, part-time position for an experienced, highly motivated, marketing professional to manage the day-to-day marketing activity of St John’s Nursery, Pre-prep and Preparatory School, and the two nurseries.  The candidate will report in to the Headmaster and also the Director of Marketing (based in Dean Close Senior School).

     TEACHER OF MODERN FOREIGN LANGUAGES at Dean Close Preparatory School

    Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages

    (French and Spanish)

    Commencing January 2018

    We are seeking to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages. Applicants should be passionate about teaching languages and be able to encourage and engage our students.

    This is a full time teaching post to teach French to Year 3 – 8 pupils of all abilities and Spanish to Year 7 and 8 pupils of all abilities. The Modern Foreign Languages timetable amounts to approximately 24 one hour lessons per week and candidates must be able to teach another subject at Key Stage 2 level.

    This role would suit a person who has broad knowledge & experience of Microsoft Networks with a key emphasis on desktop support and customer service.

    Excellent and proven communication skills with an attention to detail will be required due to the role requiring face to face communication with teaching & support staff.

    Main Duties:

    • To support the school’s IT infrastructure and ensure that it is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
    • To maintain PC workstations, laptops, printers & audio visual equipment across all 3 schools.

    Salary dependent on experience c. £18,000 per annum

    Main Duties:

    • Assist with routine care of all designated gardens, grounds and external areas, ensuring tasks are conducted in a timely, efficient and effective manner
    • Assist with the development and improvement of existing or new garden areas
    • Undertake routine preparation and maintenance of a range of sports and amenity surfaces as detailed on work schedules
    • Undertake preparatory and cultivation work to maintain safe, quality playing surfaces
    • Set up sports pitches and amenity surfaces
    • Undertake minor construction and landscaping work
    • Ensure standards of work are maintained and tasks completed
    • Ensure vehicles and equipment are regularly maintained in accordance with routine operating requirements
    • Participate in continuous professional development, attending training courses as necessary in support of the role and responsibilities, and as agreed annually at appraisal
    • Have a working knowledge of the Health and Safety regulations in the area of responsibility; Promote and adhere to safe working practices at all times

    Holiday:

    • The holiday year runs from 1st September to 31st August each year.

    • Holiday must be taken at times specified by the School which will be during the normal school holidays.
    • Part-time staff will have their holiday pro-rated accordingly.
    • Three days holidays must be retained for the period between Christmas and New Year.

    Housekeeping staff are required:

    • To provide a clean and pleasant environment and to cover occasional absences in the Housekeeping Department
    • To help maintain the fabric of foundation building in good condition
    • To maintain high levels of cleanliness throughout the foundation

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • To clean specified areas of the foundation to the required standard as instructed by the Housekeeper;
    • Wash floors, surfaces, fixtures and fittings and walls up to a specified height;
    • Cleaning inside windows up to a specified height;
    • Sweeping and vacuuming floors;
    • Polishing and dusting surfaces and furniture;
    • Cleaning toilets and shower areas;
    • Use cleaning materials as appropriate and according to their instructions for use;
    • To empty bins and remove rubbish from the premises;
    • To take recyclable materials to appropriate recycling points;
    • To report any damages to school property or other relevant matters to the Housekeeper;
    • To use power cleaning equipment as directed;
    • To undertake relevant non routine cleaning as instructed by the Housekeeper;
    • To undertake any relevant training as required;
    • To comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Regulations;
    • To take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of themselves and for others;
    • To co-operate with the employer in ensuring that Health and Safety Responsibilities are carried out;
    • To undertake any other relevant duties as instructed.
