On Thursday 17 May, Dean Close Pre-Prep Year 2 Speech & Drama group had a very exciting afternoon at the Cheltenham Festival. They had practised hard and were entered in one of the choral speaking classes. The pupils performed their choral speaking poem The Adventures of Isobel by Ogden Nash to a large audience at Cheltenham Town Hall with great enthusiasm and confidence . The children were very pleased with their performance and felt that they had remembered their words and actions very well. In the same group were some other super performances, so listening to the adjudicator’s comments at the end was a nail-biting experience. Imagine their excitement and joy when they found out that they had come first in the Under 8 category, and had won ‘The Selwyn School Challenge Cup’. We felt very proud of their hard work and achievement! Well done!

We would like to say big thank you to Miss McFarlane, Miss Stevens and Mrs Lawrence for all their hard work and wonderful teaching, to Mrs Trant who helped at school and of course a big thank you to all the parents who helped practise at home and came to support us at the Town Hall. It was a fantastic afternoon.
