One of the highlights of autumn here in Cheltenham is the arrival of the Literature Festival. Montpellier suddenly comes alive as authors gather together to launch their latest works. Every year Pre-Prep gets involved by sponsoring an event and this year they supported two: A Bear called Paddington and Chris Hoy and the Flying Fergus Team.

Pupils could win tickets to both events, the first by designing Paddington a new coat and hat, the second by drawing a magical bicycle, complete with lots of carefully considered inventions. There were at least 20 entries to each of the competitions.

The Paddington event was a complete sell out and storyteller Vanessa Woolf did a brilliant job of bringing this classic story to life (Paddington will be 60 years old on 13th October 2018). Using lots of imagination, actions, foam to create snow, reams of fabric to imitate water and a little real water too, the children were absolutely captivated. It was a really wonderful event enjoyed by both adults and children, including lots of Dean Close Pre-Prep pupils.
