Last week’s ‘Celebration of Music’ concert showcased some of the best musicians from across the whole School, with the youngest player aged just 6 years old to the more seasoned performers in the Sixth Form. The audience was treated to vocal, strings, piano, trumpet and clarinet pieces, including two stunning pieces from the School a capella group, Close Harmony, and a finale from the Carducci Quartet.

While all of the performances were of an excellent standard, this year will be remembered as particularly special for its first Pre-Prep have Strings Quartet performance before such a big crowd. The two violinists and two cellists performed Hewitt-Jones’ Jason and the Golden Fleece, and were not remotely phased by the audience (or indeed by following the experienced Sixth Form Trio!).

The concert is a great platform for the younger pupils to debut their musical abilities but it is also a lovely opportunity to hear some of the older pupils’ talents before they move on to pastures new.
