Dean Close Sixth Formers are celebrating a superb set of A Level results this year across both the modular and new linear A Levels. In a slight improvement to the figure last year, 72% of all grades achievedwere A* – B, with many Decanians achieving the first choice universities across the UK. AS results and internal exams also indicate that next year’s results willcontinue this upward trend.

Five pupils will be taking up places at Oxford and Cambridge either this year or next, in five very different disciplines: Economics, Natural Sciences, Law, English and Languages. A number of departments have also done particularly well including Business and Economics, English, Further Maths, Classics and Fine Art.

Headmaster, Bradley Salisbury, said: “It is particularly pleasing when pupils who may have thought twice about studying for A Levels, or who have joined Dean Close with low academic confidence, come through with flying colours. Amongst our individual successes are the pupils with 3 or 4 A*s but also a large number of pupils who have gained places on very competitive degree courses. When their academic achievements are put alongside their community service, sport, music, drama and outward bound activities, the results this year paint a clear picture of a year group who have flourished. I am delighted for each one of them.”
