In the Lent Term, Reception began their new topic ‘Far, Far Away’ with a trip to see The
Tales of Hans Christian Andersen at theKings Theatre in Gloucester. After an exciting trip
on the coach, everyone settled into their front row seats and enjoyed a snack before the
show began.

‘The Ugly Duckling’,
‘The Princess and the
Pea’, ‘Thumbelina’ and
many more classic
tales were brought to
life through the spoken word, songs and puppetry. The children loved joining in as they were invited to sing songs and shout out answers to questions during the show. The children are now keen to read the stories in school and do their own puppet shows. Throughout the visit all the children were exceptionally well behaved and a delight to take out of school – all the Reception staff were very proud indeed!
