The Prep School welcomed Grandparents and residents from four local retirement homes to celebrate Christmas in style. Whilst enjoying minced pies, Christmas cake, sausage rolls and other delicious treats, guests (served by wonderful Year 8 pupils) listened to some outstanding festive performances.

The Swing Band kicked off proceedings, withfour fab Year 8 girls singing All I Want For Christmas. Chamber Choir sang two pieces, a beautiful Cradle Song by Arnesen and an all singing, all dancing Santa’s Christmas Celidh. Not to be outdone, Junior Choir sang Holy Child and then a hilarious version of Rock around the Shops, featuring lines about their teachers, Mr Shelley and his Welly, Mr Harris has gone toParis and Hello Kitty Mr McVittie; with props!

There were
some excellent performances from both the Junior String Quartet and
Senior Strings and some wonderful group poetry performances from Year 5 forms
including Christmas Dog by Shel Silverstein and Kid’s Christmas: Mum and Dad’s
Christmas
by Sarah Forsyth. The brass group brought some lively Christmas
cheerwithRockin’ around the Christmas Tree.

The morning ended with everyone singing the Twelve Days of Christmasand
each table taking a line and a final, lively version of Jingle Bells accompanied by
the Senior Orchestra.
