Sixth former, Jason Richards, has recently been awarded the organ scholarship at Jesus College, Cambridge, from September 2018. He will be working alongside the College’s Director of Music, Richard Pinel, and be accompanying and assisting with the direction of the College’s two choirs. Jason has been offered a place to study Law alongside this prestigious award. In addition, he has be appointed Organ Scholar at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle for next academic year. From September 2017, he will be working alongside the professional choir of men and boy choristers, assisting with the training of the probationer choristers and accompanying the choir in the weekly schedule of choral services in the chapel. Congratulations to Jason on these two outstanding achievements.
Jason is a hugely accomplished musician, having last year broken the School record book by achieving an incredible five Grade 8s with distinction on clarinet, percussion, organ, piano and singing. Director of Music, Helen Porter, said: “Jason is among the most talented musicians we have ever had at Dean Close. We are extremely proud of his achievements and success which are unprecedented in the history of the School.”
