Scholarship Brochure

Scholarships at Dean Close recognise individual talent and encourage a higher level of achievement.

Scholars have a unique opportunity to inspire others to grow in their talents and skills and encourage their peers to achieve their personal best.  The School offers scholarships for 11+, 13+ and 16+ entry for excellence in:

  • Academic studies

  • Music

  • Sport

  • Art

  • Drama

  • Design Technology (13+ only)

  • Leadership and Service (13+ only The Colin Cox Award)

  • All-round Ability (The Francis Close Award)

There is also a 7+ Scholarship available based on pupils’ ability, potential, attitude and work ethos. The number of awards given in each category depends upon the calibre of the applicants.

The Scholarship programme runs alongside a means-tested bursary programme. Those receiving a scholarship are able to apply for a bursary if they need assistance in paying school fees.

Choristerships

Dean Close Preparatory School provides the Choristers for Tewkesbury Abbey. The children are able to benefit from an excellent academic and all round education as well as a first rate musical training. Successful candidates will become probationary Choristers. They will also be encouraged to take up an instrument and to become fully integrated members of School taking advantage of everything that a Dean Close education has to offer.

A full scholarship of 20% can be topped up with a bursary. We regularly audition Choristers throughout the year.

For further information about Choristerships please email the Admissions Office on dcpsregistrar@deanclose.org.uk.

Bursaries

Bursaries are means-tested Awards and are made at the School’s discretion. In accordance with the Charities Commission guidelines, Bursaries are made following the completion of a Grant Application Form (GAF) that includes a ‘Confidential Statement of Financial Circumstances’. Bursaries may, in exceptional circumstances, be awarded up to 100% of the fees.
