Creating Life-Changing Opportunities

At Dean Close, we believe in the power of opportunity. The Foundation Awards are part of our Futures Campaign, designed to transform the lives of talented young people by offering them the chance to flourish within our unique educational environment. These awards are specifically aimed at pupils who can make a meaningful contribution to school life. Our Foundation Awards offer up to 100% fee discount to families who would otherwise not be able to consider an independent education and who have clearly proven financial need. 

Transforming Lives Since 2018

Since launching in 2018, the Foundation Awards have made a profound difference. They provide access to a Dean Close education for pupils who would not otherwise be able to attend due to financial constraints. There are currently five different Foundation Awards with a sixth being added this year, the Saunders Foundation Awards.  

Up to 100% Fee Support

Each award can cover up to 100% of school fees, depending on assessed financial need. This makes it possible for children with talent, potential and character to flourish in the Dean Close environment—regardless of financial circumstances.

Who We’re Looking For

We seek young people who:

  • Are academically able with a strong desire to learn

  • Have genuine enthusiasm for the breadth of a Dean Close education

  • Demonstrate talents in areas such as sport, music, art, or drama

  • Show a positive attitude, strong character, and a “can-do” spirit

  • Will embrace the chance to be part of a close-knit, supportive school community

Awards may be granted at different entry points, with opportunities starting as early as Year 7.

These are not just financial awards—they are an investment in the character, ambition, and leadership potential of tomorrow’s changemakers.

Saunders Foundation Awards

These awards are specifically aimed at:

  • For families with proven financial need

  • Living within 50 miles of Cheltenham

  • Families contributing to the rural economy

From farmers to agricultural workers, craftspeople to food producers, these are awards designed to support families at the heart of rural life. Further information and criteria can be found in the downloadable document on this page.
