A Word from the Heads
11+, 13+ AND 16+ SCHOLARSHIPS
The School offers scholarships and exhibitions for 11+, 13+ and 16+ entry (IV and LVI) for excellence in academic studies, music, sport, art, drama, product design technology (13+ and 16+). There is also a 7+ Scholarship available based on pupils’ ability, potential, attitude and work ethos.
Awards up to 20% of full fees can be made and these can be supported by bursaries where financial need is demonstrated. The number of awards given in each category depends upon the calibre of the applicants.
Foundation Awards are a new type of bursary, aimed at providing life changing opportunities for talented children. A Foundation Awards offers a fee discount to families who would otherwise not be able to consider an independent education and who have clearly proven financial need. Foundationers will demonstrate significant potential in one or more of Dean Close’s key areas of focus: Academic, Music, Sport, Art or Drama. 7 + SCHOLARSHIPS
Dean Close Prep offers an award into Year 3. The assessment process will take into account pupil’s ability, potential, attitude and work ethos. The awards will be open to internal and external pupils alike. Pupils must be under 8 on the 1st September on the year of application.
The Prep School offers awards of up to 15% of the day fees, excluding any extras. Awards will commence on September 1st of Year 3 and run to the end of Year 6, by which time pupils will have the opportunity to sit for 11+ scholarships. There is no set number of awards; they will be awarded on merit to internal and external pupils alike. Dean Close Preparatory School provides the Choristers for Tewkesbury Abbey. The boys are able to benefit from an excellent academic and all round education as well as a first rate musical training. Successful candidates will become probationary choristers. They will also be encouraged to take up an instrument and to become fully integrated members of School taking advantage of everything that a Dean Close education has to offer.
A full scholarship of 25% can be topped up with a bursary.
