Where can you buy pet plants, try your ‘hand’ at doughnut bobbing, hunt for treasure, play ping pong challenge or take a turn inthe stocks, all under one ‘roof’? The Dean Close Prep School Charity Fair, is the answer! This year’s annual Charity Fair was busier than ever, bursting with colourful stalls, games and delicious food all organised by the pupils.

“I had the best morning ever!” a very excited pupil exclaimed, “Every year I look forward to the Charity Fair,
I love all the different stalls, there were loads this year! I had great fun trying to eat doughnuts off a string
and I beat Mr Shelley at Ping Pong Challenge. Having fun is a really nice way to raise money for people
who are not as fortunate as us.”

All the money raised will go to Nyakatukura School in Uganda, which Dean Close has been supporting for the last 12 years. Over time, the money has been utilised in a variety of ways, from vital maintenance to school buildings, creating new facilities such as classrooms and boarding houses and to pay the school fees for African children who would otherwise not be able to attend.

“The charity fair is one of the highlights in the school calendar for both staff and pupils, it is a great opportunity for the whole School to have fun together and raise funds for a very worthy cause. It also makes pupils aware of the poverty other cultures experience and most importantly provides help to children who otherwise might not get an education.” said Mr Eric Harris, Senior Master.

We raised £2271.65! Thank you to pupils, parents, family and friends!
