Dean Close is delighted to announce two exciting appointments for the Sports Department. Andrew Stanley will join them from Gloucester RFC as the new Director of Rugby, and international player Liam Brignull will return to Dean Close as a hockey coach.

Andrew Stanley, Director of Rugby

Andrew Stanley has been appointed as Director of Rugby from September 2014. Andrew has a degree from the University of the West of England and he is one of the very few RFU Level 5 coaches. ‘Stan’ has played nearly 200 first team games for Gloucester RFC.

Having been Director of Rugby at Hartbury College for three years, hecoached for seven years atWorcester Warriors as the Regional Academy Manager which included a spell asinterim Head Coach. He is currently the forwards coach at Gloucester Rugby, having also been Academy Manager. Alongside his passion for rugby, he enjoys coaching junior cricketers at his local club.

Liam Brignull, Hockey Coach

With Gary Tredgett slightly adjusting his role from Hockey Coach to Director of Hockey, we are delighted that Old Decanian, Liam Brignull, will be coming to assist Gary in maintaining and developing our outstanding hockey programme across the Senior and Prep schools. Liam has just graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan University, where he has played National League hockey for three years and was voted Player of the Season in his league this year as Cardiff Met claimed the title for the second year running. Liam has gained both outdoor and indoor international honours with Wales and he will be representing his country at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.

Whilst at Dean Close, Liam was a member of the boys U18 National Champions hockey sides as well as being captain of cricket for four successive seasons.
