Less than a week after the U16s did the double, it was the U18s turn to go for the titles of both Netball and Hockey County Champions.

The U18 hockey girls were the first to step up to the test and they did not disappoint. The girls showed an excellent display of skill in the beautiful sunshine and became the third Dean Close team within a week to be awarded the County Cup.

The tournament started with a few nerves in the first game against the Ladies’ College, but as the morning went on the girls played some well-structured hockey, with exceptional goals from Jess Thomas, Maddie Pendle and Danielle Gibson. The side was led by Izzy Fairthorne, with the help of some senior players, to bring in some spectacular results. This was a real squad effort and well fought throughout.

Just a few days later, the U18 County Netball Tournament took place. Half of the squad had competed in the hockey just one day before, so were unsure how they would fair with slightly t tired legs. However, the girls performed really well, winning all but one of the group games.
