Lastweek, Year 3 pupils had a visit from Old Decanian, Hati Davis, who came to speak about her three week Arctic adventure across the glaciers in Svalbard. The purpose of Hati’s expedition was to research the effects of temperature change on the body. The children asked lots of questions to find out about Hati’s essential kit such as what she wore, what she ate and the animals she encountered. Hati brought in examples of the food she lived on giving the children the chance to taste them. She also let them snuggle in her special sleeping bag, which they thought was great fun. The children really enjoyed listening to Hati, especially as they have been studying Polar Regions as their topic this term; it really brought the subject to life.
