The Squirrels had a wonderful day of geographical exploration on their ‘Around the World Day’. Each class ‘became’ a different country, and the children came to school wearing flag colours or national costume and donated money to support UNICEF’s work with children across the world. In the morning, they were able to spend time finding out all about their country and take part in lots of exciting themed activities. All classes were also able to take part in a wonderful African drumming workshop, learning rhythms, how to play different notes and accompanying songs.
In the afternoon, children boarded ‘aeroplanes’ with their passports and visited all the other countries in the Pre-Prep to take part in more hands-on activities. The children all agreed they had had an amazing day and learnt many new facts!
This wonderful day has enabled the children to experience a little of many of the countries of the world; we believe it is so important it is for the children to learn about our world, and to appreciate and understand different cultures and customs.
