This year our Christingle was a little different due to Covid restrictions in place, but we still had a wonderful time taking part in this special service ‘together’ via google classroom! Rather than the whole school gathering in the chapel, just Year One and Year Two led the service so that we were able to social distance and film the service, but we were still able to include pictures of all the other classes holding their lit Christingles to make sure that everyone took part, at school and in the chapel!
The service began with our Squirrel Strings playing ‘Jingle Bells’ and ‘Little Donkey’ beautifully and the children then sang ‘Away in a Manger’. Mr Ash explained the meaning of the Christingle with the help of some different lights held by Year Two pupils! Prayers and readings were also led by Year Two pupils and then the Singing Squirrels sang ‘This Little Light of mine’ just before the Christingle candles were lit. We were sad that family and friends were not able to actually join us for the service in chapel but we had many lovely messages to say how much they had enjoyed watching it at home on google classroom. Well done, everyone – what a lovely way to start Advent!
