The Prep School had its busiest Christmas concert ever, welcoming over 90 visitors including Grandparents and residents from five local retirement homes to celebrate Christmas in style. Whilst enjoying a sumptuous feast of Christmas canapés and cakes, guests (served by wonderful Year 7 and 8 pupils) listened to some outstanding festive performances.

Junior Choir opened the concert with three festive songs, which they sang beautifully. Followed by Senior strings who accompanied Tom Bowen whilst he sung an exceptional solo performance of ‘Walking in the Air’ from the classic tale ‘The Snowman’.

Chamber Choir received a rapturous applause when they sang Jingle Bells brilliantly complete with some very tuneful harmonies. Guests then joined in with children and staff to sing, Deck the Halls and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, some guests even had a little dance! The morning ended with everyone singing the Twelve Days of Christmas and each table taking a line, accompanied by Senior Orchestra. Everyone left humming Christmas Carols and feeling ready for the festivities in the weeks to follow.

Deputy Head, Jonathan Harris said, “This is one of my favourite events of the Christmas season. Watching the children spend time with their grandparents and looking after them and welcoming guests from local retirement homes is what Christmas is all about. Offering some light entertainment, wonderful company and fabulous food really does get everyone in the Christmas Spirit!”
