Congratulations to the U14, U16 and U18 girls’ hockey teams who have all qualified into Wests Finals after the county rounds, with the U18 and U14 teams going through as County Champions.

In the U18 tournament, the team drew in a tight, first match against Cheltenham Ladies’ College where Grace Starling made two outstanding saves, then went on to win the other two matches. Standout performances came from Dani Gibson with her incredible firepower up front, Ellie Clarke and Maddie Pendle who dominated at centre mid, and Issy Montgomery and Abby Norwood who were outstanding at the back.

The U16’s used their tenacity and classic Dean Close determination to get through. They won one, drew one and lost one, coming second overall on goal difference, losing out to Wycliffe College. Special mentions to Sydney Davies and Hayley Collenette who both played with injuries but plucked up the courage to stand by their team.

Finally the U14’s sailed through their tournament without conceding a single goal. Their best match was against Cheltenham College where they won 4-0 in a convincing game. There were no standout players, just an excellent and cohesive team performance.

Well done to you all and good luck in the Wests.
