Pre-Prep werethrilled withtheir musical entries for this year’s Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts. The Squirrel Strings returned to school triumphant for the second year running, winning the KMF Cup and the Singing Squirrels gained ‘Honours’ in the U7 Choir class.

The Squirrel Strings consists of 25 performers from Reception to Year 2. They played two wonderful pieces, ‘Ode to Joy’ and ‘Boogie Bass’. All the children played very well indeed and the adjudicator said how much she enjoyed their playing, their superb concentration throughout the performance and their enthusiasm!

The Singing Squirrels sang two songs, ‘Singing in the Bath’ and ‘We are the Young’, impressing the adjudicator with their tunefulness, energy, and confidence when part-singing. Although they did not win the class, they greatly enjoyed performingand should be proud of gaining ‘Honours’.

“It wonderful to see such a large group of our young children wanting to sing and play – clearly enjoying making music together.” explained Dr Shelley, “Well done to everyone and a special thank you to Mrs Bowen and Ms Fleming for working with them every week and inspiring them to achieve such high standards.”
