Virtual Harvest Festival Performance – Shared on Thursday 22nd October
This performance will be shared with you via Google classroom on Thursday 22nd October – so please make sure that you are logged in and put the date in your diary! Details on how to do this were sent to you at the beginning of term.
We always talk to the children about how thankful we are at this time and it is wonderful that our children show concern and will often think of ways in which we can help. In the past we have had cake sales or collected food for our local foodbanks as our harvest collection, however as this year we will not be able to collect coins or food items, we have decided to have an e-collection on behalf of Christian Aid who are working with some of the poorest people facing famine and hardship. We would love it if you can join in and donate online. The link is https://e-offering.christianaid.org.uk/e-offering
Reception Teddy Bear’s Picnic – Friday 23rd October
Children in Reception are invited to bring their teddy into school for a special treat!
The Dean Close Parents’ Network provides parents with an opportunity to be in contact with their own year group. It helps parents to meet with other parents, become acquainted with their child’s year group and be informed about the sporting and social activities which are available at Dean Close.
Most importantly the Parents’ Network hopes to help make your time of being a Dean Close School parent a sociable and enjoyable experience.
Each year group has a closed Facebook or Whatsapp group which is administered by the Parent Representative. Please contact your Parent Representative if you would like to join the group and to make contact with other parents in your child’s year group.

All parents are warmly invited to join the Dean Close prayer fellowship, which acts as a social hub and prayer support network. In normal running we meet fortnightly on the school site straight after morning drop off, for a cup of tea, a chance to meet other like-minded Dean Close parents, and also a chance to pray for all aspects of school life together as informed by the Chaplain. At the moment our meetings are online.
If you are interested in finding out more about this, or would like to be added to the email distribution list please do get in touch with the Chaplain, John Ash on email@example.com. Even if you live abroad and wouldn’t normally be able to join us in person, summaries of prayer news are sent out regularly. We would love you to join us!

If you move house, change your email address, home address, mobile or work numbers, please inform Lesley Miller or Katie Miller Greatbatch in the Pre-Prep Office as soon as possible. It is essential that we have your current contact details so we can contact you without delay in cases of child illness or emergencies.
If there are any changes in your child’s medical health, especially allergies or food restrictions, please contact Lesley Miller or Katie Miller Greatbatch in the Pre-Prep Office.
Please remember not to bring snacks from home into school for your child or other children. This is an important school policy as we have several children with severe food allergies or special diets and we wish to ensure that every child is safe and healthy at school.
You may bring individually wrapped birthday cake into school on your child’s birthday which will be taken home at the end of the day and eaten at home.
Cars on the School Site:
- Speed can kill. Please can all drivers / cyclists reduce their speed to 5 mph whilst on the school site.
- To promote an environmentally friendly site, please could all drivers turn off their vehicle’s engines whilst waiting to collect children.
- Please take care when exiting the school gates as pedestrians may be walking on the path.
- We strongly recommend that cars do not turn right on to the Lansdown Road. This is a very busy road and there have been several previous collisions at this point. It can also cause long delays for other parents trying to exit.
- Please ensure that you wait to allow Pre School pupils to cross the road safely into the Prep School buildings – Prep School staff will be assisting them.
- If you usually park on the field, during wet weather, please park on either Shelburne Road or the Sports Hall drive.
