We are delighted to say that we have been able to move the same providers postponed from February to this next Monday. The same topics will be covered and involve the theme of risk. The children will rotate a series of 4 sessions involving Fire Safety with A and E Fire Training service, drug awareness with police officer Candice Palmer, outdoor education with Mike Beecham (our resident expert at the Senior School) and first aid with the local Air Ambulance team. It is always such a stimulating way of seeing lessons in action, we will let you know how we get on!
A gentle reminder to all DCPS Year 8 parents whose children will be moving through to the Senior school (DCS) in September, that the staff are looking forward to seeing you for the Zoom Information event on Saturday 22 May. (Initial details were sent in the IV Form House Allocation letters emailed in March).
Parents will have now been also sent the relevant Zoom links via the DCS Admissions team, but a reminder that the presentation will be held 10.00-10.45am (UK time), followed by House meetings with individual Houseparents at 11.00am.
During the past few weeks, we have given each of our Foundation values the spotlight and challenged pupils to develop their courage, grow in their love and become better at contributing. The goal is for everyone to flourish whilst with us at DCPS and by doing more than just demonstrating our values but making an effort to develop them, we hope to see pupils working towards fulfilling their potential. There have been some heart-warming stories of pupils accepting this challenge and staff have enjoyed rewarding them with special values stickers. Using the focus in school as an impetus, we encourage the whole Dean Close community to embrace our values for themselves, which may involve a family ‘push’ at contributing more or being braver in some way. Do let us know if you have any family stories to share which might inspire others to join the campaign we are enjoying in school this half term.

Dean Close Pre-Preparatory School, fondly known as the ‘Squirrels’, is set in the beautiful grounds of Dean Close School, in a modern, purpose-built building. We have excellent facilities and resources and also benefit from being able to share in the outstanding Preparatory and Senior School facilities on site. We understand that a child’s first experience of school is a vital step in their learning journey, developing the knowledge, skills and self-confidence which lay the foundations for their lives.
Dean Close Preparatory School is a co-educational day and boarding school for children age 7 – 13. The school is set in 50 acres of private land near the centre of Cheltenham. With 310 pupils, the Preparatory School is small enough to allow everyone to know one another and get fully involved in the life of the School.
Set in 50 beautiful acres, Dean Close is a long-standing co-educational day and boarding school for 13-18 year olds, where visitors regularly comment on the atmosphere, saying how warm and friendly they find it.
