Lateral Flow Tests for Pupils in Years 7 & 8
The Government is insistent on the importance of testing and reporting of Lateral Flow Tests for pupls in Year 7 and 8 and above. They have asked that schools reiterate and reinforce this message to pupils and parents. In assembly this week we spoke to all our Year 7 and Year 8 pupils and reminded them of the importance of twice weekly testing and the role testing is playing in helping the country get out of the various stages of lockdown. Testing kits are available from school.
Please find below a message the Government have asked all schools to share with parents:
The importance of testing and reporting in schools and colleges
Testing continues to play a crucial role, in and out of classrooms, in our fight against COVID-19. Staff should continue to test themselves and report results whilst encouraging secondary school and college students to do likewise. Reporting test results can be done simply and quickly, from mobiles, online or by phone, and should be completed straightaway. Reporting not only supports contact tracing in the event of a positive case but also assists our understanding of community rates of infection. To help in communicating the importance of testing and reporting, we have produced a blog on why reporting your test result is as important as taking a test, featuring further guidance and common questions. This also includes details on financial support available to parents whose children are asked to self-isolate after contact with a positive case.
Please could pupils in Y3-6 try to bring in headphones next week for the online tests. They should be able to connect to a standard headphone jack. Pupils in Y7 should ensure they have their chromebooks and if possible a set of headphones for Wednesday.
Unfortunately, all matches have been cancelled tomorrow due to waterlogged pitches in Bristol and here at home. Pick up will now be at 12.00. Year 4 swimming will take place as normal.
