DCPS Important Notices – Week 8 Trinity Term

End of Term Plan

Please read the letter below for important information leading up to the end of Term:

Sports Day

Unfortunately due to the weather conditions, Sports Day for Year’s 3-6 was cancelled today.

However , we are confident that tomorrow’s Sports Day for Year’s 7 &  8 will still take place.

We have rearranged the Year’s 3 – 6 Sports Day to take place on Thursday 24th June, weather permitting, in the following format:

9.00am – 10.35am – Year 3 and Year 4 Sports Day

11.00am – 12:45pm – Year 5 and Year 6 Sports Day

As you are hopefully aware, pupils in Year 5-8 from September will be the next pupils to have a Chromebook in school. The school portal for ordering these is currently open https://deancloseprep.edutechstore.zone/. Find out more here.

If you have further questions, please email Miss Rubringer (cjrubringer@deanclose.org.uk)

Mufti Day

On Thursday 24th June, we are having a mufti day when everyone can wear home clothes to school, but will need to pay £2 for the privilege. Pupils will be asked to pay at either drop off point in the morning, where the Charity Ambassadors will be ready to collect their donations. The good cause we are going to support is a charity based in India (Good Shepherd Homes – www.good shepherd homes.org), well known to the Gladwell family who were part of our community during Lockdown 1 and 2 when they found themselves stranded in the UK after returning here for a wedding last summer. The charity has a number of children’s homes in Mumbai and Pune, helping to give street children a new and brighter future. Thank you in advance for your support. Look out for the second special charity event taking place in the final week of term!

Year 4 Expedition

On Monday 28th June all Year 4 pupils will be taken on an expedition to a walk next to the river Wye at Symmonds Yat. The trip will take place during the school day and is an ideal opportunity to undertake a minor expedition as a year group. Pick up at the end of the trip will be at 4.00pm.

Year 8 Parent/Guardians

We are delighted that we have been able to go ahead with our Healthy Living Day programme, on Thursday 24th June with such essential topics:

  • transition to the Senior School with Mrs Jo Sheldon (Fortfield Houseparent and Year 3 teacher) and covering what it feels like ‘to go across the road’ and what to expect.
  • first aid with our medical team Nurse Hayley Harris, a practical session with some key information also being covered.
  • sexting with PC Candice Palmer whom we know well as our local liaison officer; she will explain very clearly the dangers involved.
  • careers with Mr Zach Suckle, a Senior School teacher and careers advisor; he will get them to think creatively about what they might want to do in the future, and what new jobs might exist for their generation.

The pupils will need to wear sports clothing.  Any questions, please email Mrs Davies on sadavies@deanclose.org.uk
