Dean Close School has seen a great deal of success with its Equestrian Team in recent years, and this month 14 year-old Lydia Wardadded to this by winning the Baileys Jumping and StyleNovice Final at Hartpury College. As such, Lydia has been featured in the top Equestrian publication, Horse and Hound.

This event is a huge National Arena Eventing competition held over the winter months for eventers who compete at various Shows in January and February to qualify for the Finals. Lydia qualified two of her ponies at both Novice and BE100 which is a tremendous achievement in itself, but went on the win the Novice Class with Kiltroms Woodie Jumpit plus she came 3rd and 4th with her two ponies in the BE100 Class. Lydia is aiming at her first pony trial in March.

Equestrian Manager Paula Watson said: “This was not a schools event so Lydia was competing against a number of adults. Our congratulations go to out to her on this fantastic achievement.”
