The Dean Close Showjumping team of Ollie, Georgia, Bella and Maddie rode excellent rounds at the County Cup Qualifier at West Wilts Equestrian Centre to finish 2nd in the 90cm securing their place at the Nationals as the top school from Gloucestershire to take the place at the County Cup Finals. The course was indoor, twisty and technical but the Dean Close riders made what was causing a lot of trouble for other teams look easy, completing the course as only one of two teams out of the 25 that contested the class on a zero score; seeing off competition from CLC and Cheltenham College. Bella flew round at some pace in both the 90cm and 1m to take overall 3rd and 2nd out of 87 riders and her individual 90cms and 1m Qualification for the County finals and the NSEA Nationals. The 1m team of Ollie, Bella and Georgia again put in excellent performances to take a team 4th place and secure their Plate Championship qualification.

Following on from their Showjumping successes, three of the Showjumping team; Bella, Maddie and Ollie along with the welcome addition of Mimi came out the next weekend to tackle the County Cup Dressage Qualifier at Kings Bromyard Equestrian Centre. Thankfully Storm Jorge held off and the team were lucky enough to have a rare glimpse of sunshine, as they all rode careful and fluent tests to take the overall team win and once again qualified as the top school in Gloucestershire for the County Cup National Finals. Bella showed what a diverse and talented jockey she is, winning the section overall; securing her Individual qualification for the County Cup Finals.

Director of Equestrianism, Fleur Cradock, said: “The Equestrian programme is growing and developing all the time within the Foundation. The team and scholarship riders well supported and with the new training regimes and focused time to ride during the school day, the results that the riders and teams are achieving is definitely reflecting this. The riders all gel really well together, whether they ride as a Senior team or with riders from Prep. The comradery and team support between the riders is what is making these results even more special.”
