In the Michaelmas Term, our fantastic Prep School Shooting Team came top of their Shooting Division, meaning they will move up to the First Division.
The present teams started training in Michaelmas Term 2014 and have been taking part in the Preparatory Schools Rifle Association (St Patrick’s Shield Competition) using the .22 Anschutz Target Rifle.
The team won the .22 shooting category and have been awarded Lord Lloyd Shield, whilst each team member also received a certificate for their achievements.
The competition is done by post. Once a term the organisers send each school sticky labels and a scoring sheet. The labels are placed onto the back of the targets and are then shot at. Scores are recorded and then sent back to the organisers for verification. There are three shoot offs annually (one per term).
Brian Lloyd, the shooting coach said: “We aimed for the stars but we hit the moon. I have am so thrilled for the team who practise with me every Tuesday in the School’s rifle range. They are a really enthusiastic bunch and great company.”
Roger Jones, Preparatory School Headmaster was equally excited about the team’s success. “We’re extremely proud of this group of sharp-shooters – our very own version of The Magnificent Seven!” he said.
