…was the theme for this year’s World Book Day. So much so Head of English, Mr Shelley made himself very comfortable at the front of school and was enjoying ‘I am Malala’ in the comfort of his arm chair, albeit outside in the wind!

Reading and books continued to
be the theme throughout the day
including an entire school
readathon as pupils and staff
gathered together outside at
break time and read from their
favourite books. An outdoor
library was set up underneath the
covered play area where Year 7
and 8 displayed their top ten
reads including all different types of genre, such as comedy, fiction, teen, mystery and animals to
name but a few.

Mr Shelley explained, “Sometimes finding a good book to read is challenging, there are so many great stories out there but how do you choose a book you are going to enjoy. Asking pupils to create their top ten lists has meant other children can be inspired by their recommendations, making their book choices much easier. It has been a fantastic day and wonderful to see everyone getting involved.”
