Well done to the Dean Close Senior Equestrian teams who have had a successful and strong start to their 2019 campaign.

In January, Georgie Day secured her Elite Pony Qualification in the 1.10m at West Wilts, taking her into the Hickstead and the All England Show Jumping Ground once more.

At the same competition, the Dean Close 1m Show Jumping Team of Georgia Day, Bella Stevens and Mimi Payton jumped 3 zero score rounds to finish a strong 3rd out of 27 teams, just narrowly missing their Elite qualification.  In the 90cm Eventer Challenge the team of Bella Stevens, Mimi Payton and Millie Tingey flew through 15 technical fences to secure 6th place overall, out of 18 teams.

In February, Bella Stevens qualified for the 90cm County Cup Finals having placed 3rd at West Wilts (and the highest placed rider from Gloucestershire out of 58 riders). Molly Davies qualified for the 1.10m County Cup Finals and Elite Championships having won the 1.10m (and the highest placed ride for Gloucestershire) thereby also securing her place back at Hickstead at the All England Show Jumping Ground.

In March at King’s Bromyard, the Dean Close Dressage squad of Bella Stevens, Ollie Dodman and Maddie Melville-Smith won overall and qualified for the County Cup Finals as the highest placed team from Gloucestershire.  Bella Stevens also qualified for as the individual prelim and novice dressage for County Cup Finals.

A special mention must go to Maddie Melville-Smith in Year 5 at DCPS who stepped in at the last minute to ride as part of the Senior Dressage Team due to illness and a horse injury, to support the team and help them secure the overall win; riders truly supporting each other.
