On Wednesday 17 February at 6pm, Dean Close’s Bacon Theatre will host an exciting EU Referendum Debate for Cheltenham. The event will be chaired by one of the most recognisable and trusted financial and business market commentators on television, radio, and in the press, Justin Urquhart Stewart.

Hosted by financial planning company, Piercefield Oliver, the event has already secured some very influential names on its debate panel with Cheltenham Conservative MP, Alex Chalk, who will sit alongside Senior Lecturer in International Management and Trade, Dr Jun Zhang and local business dignitaries such as EU project associate for Visit Cornwall, Claire Thayers and director of Cheltenham based Bassom Moore Ltd, Mark Moore.

Claire Thayers is currently working with Visit Britain and Visit England on the recently awarded South West Tourism Growth Fund, a £5 million Government grant provided to promote the South West region to Europe. Dr Jun Zhang’s is a leading academic from the University of Gloucestershire. Mark Moore, previously Operations Director for Princess Yachts, has had a 30-year career in international manufacturing, which started with the Michelin Tyre Company having trained in both the UK & France. Mark now owns and runs Bassom Moore Limited, a consultancy business, based in Cheltenham.

Founding partners of Piercefield Oliver, Stephen Willis and Louise Oliver explain the reasoning behind the event: “We wanted to host a business event with a difference, an event which would be both highly informative and relevant to the local community. The EU referendum, is for many, a once in a lifetime decision and the outcome will have long term ramifications for generations to come. Guests will have the opportunity to express their views and ask pertinent questions of the panel on this highly topical subject.”

Drinks will be served at 6pm in the Bacon Theatre, with the debate starting at 6.30pm and ending at 8pm. Tickets, which include drinks and canapés on arrival, are priced at £15 plus booking fee and can be purchased through Eventbrite, on https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/piercefield-olivers-eu-referendum-debate-tickets-19635743036. Piercefield Oliver will contact guests prior to the event for the submission of questions to the panel.

Proceeds of the event will go to the Dean Close School charity – the Nyakatukura project and Sponsorship Programme.
