Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception had a wonderful time this morning when the Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue service visited ‘The Squirrels’ with a fire engine!

As part of their topic on ‘Transport’, the children learnt all about the fire engine and the important equipment on board needed to help in an emergency, including the thermal imaging camera..

Having had a chance to try on a helmet and see the equipment, they were then able to use a real fire hose – aiming the water to hit a ball off a cone – with help from a fireman! The fire crew were very impressed with the children’s accuracy!

After their activities, the children also learnt about the importance of smoke alarms to keep our homes safe – it was a very exciting morning!
