On a beautifulautumnal morning‘Squirrels’, welcomed over 30 children, some as young as 3 years old, from four local nurseries to join them for a day of woodland wonder in the Forest School.

Arriving at different times throughout the day each nursery enjoyed an individual Forest School session. During their visit the children embarked on a treasure hunt, searching for natural items that can be found in British woodlands. They also listened for different types of birdsong and had great fun identifying different plants and animal habitats, whilst exploring the forest.

Mrs Jane Baylis, the Forest School leader said. “It
was a lovely morning. We are so lucky to have this
wonderful facility at the Pre-Prep. Children can’t
resist
learning about nature and the world around
them. Watching them hunt for minibeasts and
learning how to identify different trees by handling the leaves is so rewarding; children are able to retain so
much more information by being able to experience nature first hand, it creates much stronger memories. We
are looking forward to welcoming more nurseries soon!”

The morning finished with all the children enjoying a drink and some fresh fruit, before returning to their
nurseries.
