Some of the Dean Close Foundation’s younger equestrian riders – Maddie Melville Smith, Gabriel Mattlè and Agnes Bathurst (from DCPS and DCSJ) – once again formed a formidable squad and headed up to the NSEA Plate Championship Show Jumping Finals in two classes – 75cms and 85cms.  The Tracks were full up to height and asked a lot from both rider and pony.  The team put in an excellent performance to take 5th in the 75cms out of the 22 schools in the competition.

The team then went on to compete in a very competitive 85cms class.  32 schools came forward for this Plate Championship Final and the track was as big as some of our young riders have ever jumped.  They once again put in great rounds, only rolling a couple of poles, to finish in 12th place overall; a brilliant result for these young riders.

The Championships gave the team exposure to their first overnight championship show with lots of lessons to take away and learn from.  It also saw new friendships grow as the team worked together and supported one another throughout the whole weekend.  They are now looking to the South West Grass Roots Show Jumping finals with great enthusiasm.
