The Choristers are having great fun raising funds for their summer tour. Bags2School picked up 560kg of textiles and clothes the boys had collected, raising £224 towards their tour, they are also collecting ‘coppers for choristers’ and theboys recently completed a 12 mile sponsored walk from Dean Close Preparatory School to Tewkesbury Abbey. At the last count they had raised£725 including gift aid contributions.

The boys’ tour takes place on 6th-11th July when they will travel to Bordeaux Cathedral and Moissac Cathedral to perform two concerts of Anglican choral music including works by Weelkes, Gibbons, Britten, Stanford and Tippett.

Director of Choral Music and Organist, Simon Bell said, “We take the Choristers on tour every other year, the year before last we visited the Netherlands – which the boys thoroughly enjoyed. It is admirable that they wish to raise funds to contribute towards the cost of the trip and raise the profile of Tewkesbury Abbey Schola Cantorum.
