On 5th February our whole school activity day was focused on history – and what better way to help pupils understand how life changes than to invite our grandparents into school to share in an exciting and fun day! Together, grandparents and children enjoyed designing a photo frame, icing some delicious cakes and story-telling. Some grandparents then shared with classes about their lives when they were children, brought in toys (or pictures of toys) so that the children could compare toys then and now. The grandparents were very impressed with the questions and interest demonstrated by all the children. This special day really brought the learning of history to life and enabled the children to understand in a tangible way.
Grandparents play an important role in the lives of children, so it was lovely to welcome many into School and for them to come and see some of the fabulous learning experiences the children enjoy. It really was a special day and wonderful to watch the children and grandparents playing and working together!
