HOUSE SINGING COMPETITION
On Saturday 29 September, we hold the annual House Singing Competition in the Bacon Theatre starting at 7.15pm. Due the fact that it is a whole school event, there is unfortunately no space for any additional spectators. The theme for this year’s unison songs is ‘Songs from the 60’s’. We are expecting the programme to finish at around 9.15pm, and day parents are able to collect their sons and daughters thereafter.
Supper has been ordered in the Dining Hall for those Day pupils who indicated that they would be in school.
PARENT PORTAL & ISAMS PARENTS APP
Please see attached, the detailed instructions for logging into the Parent Portal and subsequent use of the iSAMS Parent App. This gives instant access from your mobile device to a great deal of information about your child’s daily activities at school including their timetable, reports and sanctions, if they have any.
If you are a new parent to Dean Close and have not received an email detailing your Registration details to the Parent Portal, which looks like the attached document, then do please contact our Database Manager on firstname.lastname@example.org.
For existing parents, please use your normal login details associated with your Parent Portal Account.
Our next Open Morning is on Saturday 13 October 2018 and we invite existing and prospective parents to come along.

JAMES SHONE: ‘I CAN I AM’
Wednesday 10 October 2019 at 7.00pm with refreshments available from 6.30pm.
The Headmaster warmly invites you to a talk by inspirational speaker and Founder of ‘I Can I Am’. James was appointed as a headmaster in 2012. During a medical assessment, a brain tumour was discovered. Over the coming months James underwent two massive operations spending eleven weeks in hospital.
The operations ultimately saved his life, but took away most of his sight. James had to relinquish a dream job, undergo radiotherapy and set off on his future with no job, no sight and diminished hope. James’ story is one of determination, courage and positivity.
James is a friend of Dean Close School and an inspiring speaker who we would warmly recommend to you. If you would be interested in joining other members of the Parents’ Society for what is set to be an excellent evening, could I ask you to please contact the Headmaster’s PA Jane Boond (email@example.com) so that we can gauge the size of venue we require for this event. Venue is to be confirmed once we have a clearer idea of numbers.
It is with much excitement that the Dean Close is able to announce a new partnership with Highnam Court Equine. The stunning new facility, run by Jasmine Head, an Old Decanian and International Show Jumper, is set in 50 acres of the stunning secure grounds of Highnam Court and the equestrian facilities on offer are second to none.

BACON THEATRE ALCOHOL POLICY
For all Dean Close School events, we will now only be serving beer, wine, cider and soft drinks behind the bar. No spirits will be served. This is due to the fact that Dean Close pupils should not be served spirits even if they are over 18.
