Shelburne Housemistress, Julie Kent, has been awarded the Most Outstanding Woman in the Charitable Sector honour at the West Women of the Year.
Julie has dedicated more than two decades to tireless charity work. Since the loss of her daughter Emily, 20 years ago, Julie has worked as Vice Chairman of the Pied Piper Appeal, a charity that improves the lives of sick children in Gloucestershire.
As if being Housemistress to 60 teenage girls doesn’t keep her busy enough, Julie has also received the Gloucester Ambassador Award and the High Sheriff Award for Services to Charity as well as being recognised among the 50 Greatest Women in the West.
Julie said, “I feel overwhelmed and honoured as my charity work has just become part of my everyday life. I hope I am a good role model for the 60 girls that I live with and I aim to inspire them to give – if not their money, their time.”
