Today the Pre-Prep launched their “I am a bookworm” competition. Children in the Early Years classes were encouraged to colour in a Bookworm, whilst children in years 1 and 2 could draw their own. Winners will receive tickets to either The Tiger that came for Tea or the launch of the new Charlie and Lola Book, ‘One Thing’, both “Book It” events at this year’s Literature Festivalwhich the Pre-Prep is sponsoring.
The “I am a Bookworm” is part of an initiative to make reading amongst young children irresistible, not only at Pre-Prep, butwith parents at home.Headmistress, CarolynShelley has devised ten top tips to help parents start their little bookworms on this exciting and invaluable journey: role playing or creating activities around a story just enjoyed together, creating a special time to read every day and the value of repeating a favourite story as often as a child wants, are just a few of the ideas Carolyn suggests.
