This is intended to provide parents/guardians with up-dates prior to the reopening of school on Monday, 8th March 2021 and supplements the previous information sent out.
Pupils should return in winter uniform. If you have had difficulty sourcing any part of uniform please do let your child’s tutor or houseparent know. We are keen to maintain our usual high standards but do understand that some flexibility may be needed. Please click here to access a uniform plan arranged year group that may be helpful.
A very small number of overseas pupils are unable to return to school this term. Remote learning will continue to be provided for them through Google Classroom. This will follow the same timetable used by pupils returning to school and so will be slightly different to the one used during Lockdown. Parents/guardians will be emailed their child’s timetable by their tutor/form teacher.
Afternoon activities for Years 3 to 5
There will be a limited range of activities for our Junior Forms pupils. We understand that some pupils will need to stay later than others, so rather than everyone being in the hall, there will be a few choices of indoor and outdoor activities for Yr 3-5 pupils between 4:00 – 4:45pm on Mondays, Tuesday and Thursdays. There are limited choices due to staffing requirements for end of the day arrangements. We hope these activities will provide productive, structured social, physical and thoughtful time at the end of the day for children who need to stay after 4:00pm. There is no need to use the form if you do not intend for your child to attend any activities. Please select the activities you would like your child to do using this Google Form:
Junior, Middle and Senior Christian Unions will restart on Monday, 8th of March. The timings will remain the same as in the Michaelmas term (JCU & MCU from 1615-1700, SCU from 1700-1750), but the rooms will be different. JCU will meet in the Drama Studio, MCU will meet in R8 and SCU will meet in Yeaman. As in the Michaelmas term, hand sanitizer will be used on entry, bubbles will be maintained and a seating plan kept each week.
Tennis and cricket lessons
Unfortunately private tennis and cricket lessons will not take place for the remainder of this term, but will re-commence at the start of the Trinity term.
Following further advice and guidance it has been decided that dance lessons will now not resume in school until after Easter. Lessons will continue remotely after school and timetables will be issued shortly. Arrangements will be made for any boarders who have lessons.
Footwear at break times
All pupils will have the opportunity to play on the school field (Year 5-8) or in the ‘woodland area’ (Year 3 & 4) at break times. The children very much enjoy using these areas but shoes do get muddy. All pupils must have a pair of ‘muddy trainers’ which they put on at break times if they wish to use these spaces (there are hard surfaced areas for them too), to protect indoor areas. This must be a different pair of trainers to those they use for games and PE, since we cannot have muddy shoes being taken into the sports hall or onto the astro or netball courts.
Please can all pupils bring in all their work produced during lockdown, as Mrs Sutherland would like to display new artwork.
*Please can all Library books to be returned to the school library
Lent Term Parents Evening
The Lent Term Parents Evening for your child will be on Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th March. We are holding these via Schoolcloud, as we did last term, and therefore you can book in from Thursday 4th March at 7.30pm, when the system will open for booking.
Please note it is now possible for two parents in different places to join the same appointment with a teacher. The attached document shows you all the steps for making an appointment.

JMDS Dance Teacher, Sarah Wallace, has given birth to a beautiful baby boy Ezra James Wallace , born on the 31st January, weighing in at 6lbs 6oz. Congratulations from us all at DCPS!
Alfred’s Brave Shave
DCPS pupil, Alfie Mills, is planning to shave his hair for Macmillan Cancer Support, and is asking for your sponsorship support, please.
Please click on the link below and donate, if you can, to this worthy cause.
Alfie has decided to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support because, in his words, he wants cancer sufferers to know that they are not alone.
Well done, Alfie!

Not all of the cast may have a rehearsal this term. Some parts rehearsals will begin in the Trinity Term. We shall create another schedule for this in due course.
