It was with great anticipation that staff and pupils approached the hotly contested annual Inter-House Tug of War. Last year’s event was washed out by torrential rain and many did not know what to expect with the current unpredictable weather.

Five separate tug of war pitches ran a total of over 60 contests on Monday afternoon generating a huge amount of excitement and even more noise! The cheers could be heard from Dean Close boarding houses, over a mile from the pitch, as the whole Senior School of 480 pupils united to support their House teams.

The competition was initiated a few years ago by a group of Bruneian pupils, as Tug of War is the national sport of Brunei. It is wonderful to see that the tradition has continued, as it is a fantastic team building exercise as well as a lot of fun.
