Annual DCPS Careers Event Inspires Pupils to Think About Their Future

On Saturday, we were delighted to welcome a fantastic group of guest speakers into school for our annual DCPS Careers Event for pupils in Years 6, 7 and 8.

Always a popular event, the morning gives pupils the opportunity to hear directly from professionals working across a range of industries. Our speakers shared what they do, how they reached their chosen careers and, most importantly, how the skills our pupils are developing today are the very skills they use every day in the workplace. Throughout the event, our pupils saw the real-life value of the 5Cs, Compassion, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication and Creativity, with each speaker demonstrating how these qualities help them succeed in their careers.

This year's line-up included representatives from the police, dentistry and dental nursing, an ex-professional rugby player who has transitioned into coaching, and a financial expert who spoke about the importance of financial education. The event followed a 'speed networking' format, with pupils divided into four groups and rotating between each speaker. This gave every child the chance to engage with each profession, ask questions and gain a broad insight into a variety of career pathways.

The morning sparked plenty of discussion, encouraged pupils to think about their future aspirations and undoubtedly inspired many of our pupils to consider exciting new possibilities for the future.

A huge thank you to our guest speakers, Tim, Ramy, Caitlin, Luke and Andy, for giving up their time to support our pupils and help make the morning such a memorable and successful event. Their enthusiasm, expertise and willingness to share their experiences made a real impact, and we know they have inspired many of our pupils to think more confidently and ambitiously about their own futures.
