'Daisy Pulls It Off!' — A Brilliant Performance at the Bacon Theatre
The curtains rose at the Bacon Theatre last week to reveal a dazzling production of Daisy Pulls It Off — Denise Deegan’s witty and affectionate parody of 1920s girls’ boarding school adventures. Brought to life by a talented ensemble of Remove and Fourth Form pupils, the show was a resounding success, showcasing a polished and professional performance that captivated the audience from start to finish.
Under the expert direction of Mrs Halliday, the production struck a perfect balance between heartfelt storytelling and comedic flair. From the very first scene, the young cast commanded the stage with remarkable confidence and charisma, drawing laughter and admiration from an enthusiastic audience. Their portrayal of Deegan’s endearing characters — complete with plucky heroines, stern headmistresses, and mischievous schoolmates — was both nuanced and thoroughly entertaining.
Adding to the immersive experience were the outstanding set and costume designs by Miss Dickens. Her eye for detail and theatrical flair transported audiences straight into the nostalgic world of 1920s Grangewood School. From traditional school uniforms and period props to the cleverly constructed stage sets, every visual element contributed to the atmosphere and storytelling.
The production was a true testament to what can be achieved through collaboration, creativity, and commitment. Congratulations to all pupils and staff involved — both on stage and behind the scenes — for delivering a vibrant and memorable theatrical experience. You have made the school community incredibly proud.
