Dean Close Athletes Shine at Regional Championships

Three Dean Close pupils represented the School with distinction at the English Schools Regional Athletics Championships in Exeter after qualifying through the County round. Although they were unable to attend Speech Day, they proudly competed against the very best young athletes from across the South West, producing some outstanding performances.

Harry achieved a new personal best in the Shot Put, throwing an impressive 11.54m to secure 5th place overall.

Mady delivered an excellent performance in the Long Jump, recording a leap of 4.90m to finish in 4th place.

The standout performance of the day came from Jake, who produced a remarkable Triple Jump of 12.14m. Not only did this earn him a new personal best, but it also saw him crowned South West Champion.

Jake will now progress to the English Schools National Athletics Championships in Birmingham on 9 July, where he will compete against the country's top athletes in pursuit of the national title.
