Dean Close School Celebrates Outstanding GCSE Results

Dean Close School is today celebrating the tremendous achievements of its Fifth Form pupils, whose GCSE results reflect both academic success and remarkable strength of character.

Head of School, Mr Bradley Salisbury, said:

“It gives us great pleasure to celebrate the tremendous achievements of our pupils this summer. At GCSE, as at Sixth

Form, there are so many individual stories to celebrate, and I would like to share my warmest congratulations to all our students, their families, and our dedicated staff.”

Mr Salisbury also paid tribute to the resilience shown by this year group:

“We have been so impressed by our Fifth Form's resilience and strength of character this year. They have faced significant personal loss, within their families and those of their friends, than any cohort I can recall. Their strength and support for one another has been humbling and inspiring, and as we celebrate today, we remember those from within our extended Dean Close community who would wish to be with us, but are sadly not.”

Results Highlights

  • Pass rate continues to be exceptionally high.

  • Well over half of grades achieved were 9–7 (equivalent to A*–A).

  • Over 90% of pupils achieved a grade 7 (A) or above.

  • Nine academic departments achieved an average grade beyond 7 (A).

  • Around one third of pupils achieved 70+ points across their subjects.

  • Ten pupils achieved more than 90 points.

Looking to the Future

As these pupils prepare to begin their Sixth Form journey, Dean Close school celebrates both their results and their potential.

“We are struck by the great potential in this remarkable cohort of students this year and we have every confidence that they will embrace the exciting opportunities and experiences they will have available to them in the Sixth Form. The next two years will provide new opportunities to delve more deeply into the subjects they love and the chance to spread their wings, to hone their skills and maximise their personal development.”

Mr Salisbury also emphasised that exam results are just one part of a pupil’s story:

“We value every pupil's journey, and of course, no one is defined by their grades. Statistics only provide a tiny snapshot of the full picture.”

Congratulations

The Head concluded with a message of support:

“Finally, we would like to express our congratulations to all our young people receiving results today. Wonderful

opportunities await as Lower Sixth begins, and if you would like advice or simply to talk through the next stage with one of my senior colleagues or with me, please do get in touch over the next few days.”
