Dean Close School Remembrance Service Honours the Fallen

Today, the Dean Close School community came together in the Memorial Chapel of All Saints for a solemn Remembrance Service honouring the lives of those lost in service. The occasion began with a dignified parade, as members of the CCF entered the chapel, bearing the flags and wreaths in memory of the fallen. The Dean Close School CCF and National Flags were then presented, followed by wreath-laying by representatives of each branch of the armed services and the Head of School.

In a deeply moving tribute, names of some of the Old Decanians who gave their lives in the First and Second World Wars were read aloud. Sixth Former Seb F-D played the bugle, calling the congregation to two minutes of silence observed by the entire school in reflection and reverence. The service, led by School Chaplain Reverend Ian Gulland, featured hymns and the National Anthem, sung by all present. The Chapel Choir’s beautiful performance of anthems added to the atmosphere of unity and remembrance.

The gathering was a poignant tribute to courage and sacrifice, marked by respect and a shared sense of loss, as the Dean Close community remembered and honoured those who served.

Lest we forget.
